This morning saw Anson and I putting the yaks in at Basin View ramp.
There was no breeze to speak of, and after harrasing one of the local 'Stinkboaters' we started to head for the back door to Wandy Creek.
No wind but the water temp has dropped dramatically since the recent weather events, and it was very dirty with visibility being no deeper then 2'.
The surface was blowing apart every now and then with what I am sure were both Choppers and Bream working the baitfish in the shallows.
Anson was first to get on the boards with his Flathead, while I had only managed a couple of short strikes and one reasonable run that soon stopped as the SP jig pulled .
We drifted with a slight breeze up into the back of the bay and I managed to land one mid 60s Flathead and shortly after was Peed Off to say the least when I drop a mid to high 80s.
We pulled ashore to stretch the legs and have a cool off [the sun had a hell of a bite to it].
From here we decided to sneak in the back door to Wandy Creek and see if the fish were in the shallow runs there.
I managed another half a dozen small model FHs but no more of size.
After another stop to cool down we headed up the top arm of the creek to see if the Bream were surface feeding or not.
Certainly the fish were there and some good size amoung them, they would not take anything tossed at them.
Hopefully if the weather stays clear, we will see some good runs of both Yellowfin and Black Bream start up and I will be concentrating on late arvo/early evening sessions chasing them.
Once again the Whiting were no where to be found but they too should start up soon as the water clears and warms back up a bit.
Anyway, that was the session, even though we didn't get a huge swag of fish, the day was worth every bit of the effort
